Wolbach is a village in Greeley County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 287 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Wolbach is located at coor dms|41|23|51|N|98|23|40|W|city (41.397529, -98.394344)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km²), of which, 0.7 square miles (1.8 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (2.86%) is water.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 287 people, 128 households, and 77 families residing in the village. The population density was 421.4 people per square mile (163.0/km²). There were 140 housing units at an average density of 205.5/sq mi (79.5/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 96.86% White, 2.09% from other races, and 1.05% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.09% of the population.

There were 128 households out of which 30.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.2% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 39.1% were non-families. 37.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 21.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.24 and the average family size was 3.00.

In the village the population was spread out with 25.4% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 17.8% from 45 to 64, and 22.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 87.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.9 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $25,536, and the median income for a family was $37,750. Males had a median income of $26,667 versus $16,875 for females. The per capita income for the village was $13,472. About 10.1% of families and 14.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 23.2% of those under the age of eighteen and 15.6% of those sixty five or over.
