Kundian is a town of
Mianwali District in the Punjab province ofPakistan [http://www.nrb.gov.pk/lg_election/union.asp?district=19&dn=Mianwali Tehsils & Unions in the District of Mianwali - Government of Pakistan] ] . It is located inPiplan Tehsil at 32°27'0N 71°28'0E [ [http://www.fallingrain.com/world/PK/4/Kundian2.html Location of Kundian - Falling Rain Genomics] ] and is administratively divided into two Union Councils.Kundian is the second largest town of Mianwali District and is 15km south of the district capital - the city of
Mianwali . The city was named for its Arabic Origin Kundi (Al Kundah) tribe. This tribe anciently arrived and was inhabited with the Muslim invaders from Iraq with Muhammad Bin Qasim. The renowned Iraqi scientist Yaqoob Al Kundi was of the same origin. At Kundian, there is the third largest Railway Loco Shed of Pakistan which is located near Railway Station Kundian. Kundian Junction is the largest railway station in the district and passengers can change trains for Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Mari Indus, Attock City, Multan and Kot Addu from this station.The town lies close to Chashma Barrage, Chashma Nuclear Power Plant (CHASHNUPP) and the Chashma Hydal Power Station.
There is a Higher Secondary School for boys and girls each, two middle schools and many primary schools. There are two bazaars one is main bazaar and other Siddeeqi Bazar named on the great saint Hazrat Muhammad Siddeeq Bhorvi Rehmatullah Alah, Peer of Bhor Shareef.
Transport
Kundian Railway station is one of Junction stations of Pakistan. There is track connection to Rawalpindi,Multan & Lahore cities. Also travelling to various parts of country by roads is easily accessible. Buses for D.I. Khan, Lahore,Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore,Quetta and for many more cities are easily available.
One can also pick AC buses for Lahore,Karachi,Rawalpindi,Islamabad,D.I.Khan,Sarhodha and to many other cities of Pakistan from Kudian easily near to Masoom Hotel.Also you can rent a car to any place of country from Taxi stand near to Railway station.
