State elections were held in Hamburg on 24 February 2008.
The four parties having more than 5 percent (minimum to qualify) are the conservative CDU, the social-democratic SPD, the left-wing Die Linke and the ecologist Green Party (GAL). Ole von Beust, who is at the moment the head of Hamburg's senate, was the candidate of the CDU. The candidate for SPD was Michael Naumann.
