Navan is a village within the city limits of Ottawa in eastern Ontario, Canada, located south-east of Orleans. Prior to its amalgamation with the city in 2001, Navan was located within the City of Cumberland.
Navan is located about 20km east of the city centre, centred at the corner of Colonial Road (Ottawa Road #28) and Trim Road.
Navan's proximity to the suburban area of Orleans, means that it is quickly becoming more suburban in nature itself. About 3,025 people live in the vicinity of Navan (Canada 2006 Census).
Genevieve Thauvette, a notable creative photographer, is a native of Navan.
Erik Bedard, a professional baseball player for the Boston Red Sox, is also a native of Navan.
On August 13, 1995, local resident Willard McWilliams drove 50 clydesdales in a single hitch to celebrate the 50th Navan Fair, also earning a world record. [1]
