Pickering is a village in Nodaway County, Missouri, United States. The population was 154 at the 2000 census, at which time it was a town.

Geography

Pickering is located at coor dms|40|27|2|N|94|50|31|W|city (40.450541, -94.841966)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.5 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 154 people, 71 households, and 47 families residing in the town. The population density was 839.7 people per square mile (330.3/km²). There were 84 housing units at an average density of 458.0/sq mi (180.2/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.70% White, 0.65% Native American, and 0.65% from two or more races.

There were 71 households out of which 25.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.2% were married couples living together, 2.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.8% were non-families. 29.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.17 and the average family size was 2.66.

In the town the population was spread out with 18.2% under the age of 18, 12.3% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 18.2% from 45 to 64, and 22.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 97.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.2 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $29,167, and the median income for a family was $42,917. Males had a median income of $29,167 versus $26,875 for females. The per capita income for the town was $16,125. About 9.3% of families and 14.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 9.1% of those under the age of eighteen and 27.3% of those sixty five or over.
