The End of the Mavericks?

On August 2, 2008, a local newspaper reported that the Mavericks and the Bakersfield Blaze were in negotiations with the A-Advanced Carolina League to transfer from the California League to the Carolina League.

On August 29, 2008, the same local newspaper that started the rumors of the Mavs' potential move then announced that the team would remain in Adelanto for at least the 2009 season. The team's status for 2010 is still unknown, although it looks more and more like they will be leaving for Richmond, Virginia after the 2009 season.

Golden Baseball League-bound?

However, in recent years, the independent Golden Baseball League has looked to expand to the High Desert area. If the Mavericks go through with the move, the GBL could land a team in the High Desert for 2010.
