As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 720 people, 268 households, and 191 families residing in the town. Thepopulation density was 712.8 people per square mile (275.2/km²). There were 290 housing units at an average density of 287.1/sq mi (110.9/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 52.78% White, 45.14% African American, 0.14% Asian, 0.14% Pacific Islander, 1.11% from other races, and 0.69% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.39% of the population.There were 268 households out of which 38.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.0% were married couples living together, 23.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.4% were non-families. 25.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.22.
In the town the population was spread out with 33.3% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 9.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 93.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.7 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $26,429, and the median income for a family was $28,500. Males had a median income of $25,625 versus $30,104 for females. The

The Mississippi Blues Commission placed a historic marker at the Peavine Railroad site intersection with Highway 446 in Boyle, designating it as a site on the
Mississippi Blues Trail . The marker commemorates the original lyrics of famed blues artistCharlie Patton 's "Peavine Blues" which describes the railway branch of theYazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad which ran south fromDockery Plantation to Boyle. A common theme ofblues songs was riding on the railroad which was ametaphor for travel and escape. [cite web
