- George Anthony Morgan Taylor
George Anthony Morgan Taylor (October 30, 1917 – 1972) was awarded the George Cross for gallantry [http://www.gc-database.co.uk/recipients/TaylorGAM.htm] . His award was published in the London Gazette on 22 April 1952. He was employed by the Commonwealth Bureau of Mineral Resources at the time as a Vulcanologist and received his award for his work in averting a volcanic danger from January to April 1951 at Mount Lamington in Papua. He was born in Moree, New South Wales and served with the Australian forces during World War Two.
