Lancashire ,England . It is located at the junction of the A675 and A6061 roads, betweenPreston ,Blackburn andChorley . The hamlet consists of a small number of houses and twopub s - the Royal Oak on the A6061, and the Boatyard [ [http://www.bbc.co.uk/lancashire/content/articles/2005/10/04/nature_riley_green_walk.shtml BBC - Lancashire - Nature - Riley Green Walk ] ] on A675 beside theLeeds and Liverpool Canal . Most of the surrounding area ispasture land. The original route toHoghton Tower starts in Riley Green, however it is now only a track as a new route was built. The village is on theLancashire United bus route fromBurnley toPreston {route 152) and near junction 3 of the M65. Boats were formerly constructed at the Boat Yard in the village which the Boatyard pub is named after.
