management = Velocity ManagementVelocity Tower is a scheme under construction next to the inner ring road in
Sheffield City Centre ,South Yorkshire ,England , overlookingEcclesall Road . The site is that of a former scheme, named the 'Eclipse', by Cala Developments and initially designed byBroadway Malyan . However, Cala decided after selling most of the apartments off-plan, that the economic conditions were just not right, and abandoned the scheme in 2005 without so much as a press release. In 2007, rumours of the tower being resurrected were rife, and it was eventually confirmed that Velocity Estates, developers of the acclaimed V1, V2 and V3 buildings, were to take this on with a few design changes from Sheffield based architects AXIS Architecture. The design most noticeably evolved with the introduction of a high-quality glass
cladding façade to replace the previously proposed brickwork skin. A taller ground floor was also introduced, and a roof topwind turbine array will add to the buildings green credentials. Construction started quickly in 2007 enacting the original permission while a further application was in progress to alter the appearance of the tower and meet the city councils higher design standards. They currently have permission for a 22 storey tower, but an application for the tower to go up to 36 storeys/ was submitted on6 March 2008 . If approved, this will take the building up to m to ft|abbr=no|spell=Commonwealth|108 tall or m to ft|abbr=no|spell=Commonwealth|112 with the wind turbines, making it Sheffield's tallest residential tower.The Scheme at present
The scheme as presently approved is:
* 22 storeys, m to ft|abbr=no|spell=Commonwealth|66
* Ultra modern architecture
* has grade A commercial space at ground level
* Contain secure car parking for residentsReferences
