Strawberry Hills, Saskatchewan

Strawberry Hills, Saskatchewan

Strawberry Hills is a residential subdivision located in the rural municipality of Aberdeen No. 373, Saskatchewan. It is named after the Strawberry Hills upon which it sits, the hills having been named as a result of an abundance of wild strawberries to be found in the region.

Strawberry Hills is located on land which is rather unsuitable for agricultural purposes. Some of the land had been broken earlier in the 20th century, but by mid-century, it was used primarily for pasturing beef cattle. A portion of the area was originally granted by the Crown to Veterans after the First World War. This is a rather late date for a Crown Grant in the area, and is indicative of the marginal nature of the land.

There are presently approximately 30 residences on two quarter-sections or 1/2 mile square (800 m). Each house is situated on approximately 10 acres (40,000 m²) of land. Strawberry Ridge lies immediately north of Strawberry Hills.
