Sara Evans , released in late 2000, which became a No. 1 Country hit in January 2001. This was Evans' first No. 1 country hit as a solo artist, being "No Place That Far" from the year before featuredVince Gill singing in the background.ong information
"Born to Fly" is about a person wanting to expand their horizons and dreams of being somebody, and is tired of being stuck in the same place, and wants to get out where the action is. The song makes analogies to the wings of a bird spreading its wings and flying to its new destination, with Evans saying how she was born to fly and fly away from her home and go somewhere else. The song was released in late 2000, and an album of the same name was also released. The single slowly climbed the Country charts, but hit the No. 1 spot on the Country charts in the first week of 2001. The song was also a Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching No. 34.
Music video
The music video shows Evans portraying the main character, Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz" motion picture from the early twentieth century. In the video all the same things happen to Evans that happen to Dorothy in the movie, including Evans' house rising from the ground and into the air, a wicked witch, and the little black dog, Toto. The video would earn the
Country Music Association Video of the Year award in 2001, Evans' first (and only as of 2008).The music video was ranked #34 on CMT's 100 Greatest Videos. [>cite web | title=100 Greatest Videos |url=http://lounge.teamshania.com/showthread.php?t=6760|accessdate=2008-07-29]
