Matthew Robinson is an Australian performer and composer.
Robinson was born in Queensland and graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. He has appeared on stage, screen and television and won the 2004 Pratt Prize for his musical "Metro Street", for which he was also nominated for Best New Australian Work at the 2009 Helpmann Awards and shortlisted for the 2009 Prize For Musical Theatre Writing at the Victorian Premier's Literary Awards. As a performer, roles include: Henrik in A Little Night Music, Freddy Eynsford-Hill in My Fair Lady, the title role in Pippin, Gene in Saturday Night for Magnormos and Chris in the Korean presentation of Metro Street. He is also part of the re-emerging cabaret scene, touring three self-penned cabaret shows around Australia and winning the inaugural Judges' Special Encouragement Award at the 2003 Sydney Cabaret Convention for his show with Lucy Durack.
He is currently working on two new musicals, one based on the myth of Atlantis and the other, a song cycle, titled Sing on Through Tomorrow.
