Seng Ching Hong (commonly referred to as James Seng) is one of the Internet pioneers in
Singapore and is recognized as an international expert in the Internet arena. He gave regular speeches at various forums on several Internet issues such as IDN,VoIP ,IPv6 , spam, OSS andInternet governance issues. James also participates actively in several standard organizations (such asISO /IEC JTC1 andIETF ) and also served on the board/committee of several Internet organizations.James started his career at TechNet, the first and only
Internet Service Provider in Singapore, in 1993 when he was still a student at theNational University of Singapore . Technet was subsequently spun out to becomePacific Internet . In late 1998, he co-founded [http://www.i-dns.net/ i-DNS.net] and served as the companyChief Technology Officer for 3 years. Under his guidance, the company expanded its presence world-wide with offices in over 7 countries.James also developed several Internet
software and services such asPObox (1995 ), a web-basedemail and forwarding service which has been licensed and commercialized bySingapore Press Holdings now known asPostOne and SingaporeInfoMAP (1994 ), the official Website for Singapore, which is currently operated by Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore. He has also developed a multiplayer role playing online game ( [http://hotl.gloka.com/index-2.html Heroes of the Lance III] ) in 1993.James Seng was formerly the co-chair of the [http://www.ietf.org/html.charters/OLD/idn-charter.html Internationalized Domain Names Working Group] that is responsible for the standardization of IDN.
James Seng was formerly the
Assistant Director ofEnabler Technologies at theInfocomm Development Authority of Singapore. James' team is responsible for tracking emerging and disruptive technologies on the Internet,open source software ,information exchange ,social software , antispam and other related fields.James is currently a partner of [http://www.thymoscapital.com/ Thymos Capital LLP] , an incubator based in Singapore focusing in helping young entrepreneurs.
James continues to develop Internet software, and contribute to the
Open Source movement as a hobby. He started theIDN-OSS and also contributing code to the blogging community with several plugins forMovable Type andDrupal 4 Blogger. He also has anobsession withmanagement theories,financial planning and also how technologies are changing the world.In 2005, James started a
