Francisco Anacleto Louçã (born
November 12 ,1956 ) is a Portuguesepolitician andeconomist who was an active opponent of the pre-democracy regime and who more recently helped found the left-wing partyLeft Bloc (Portuguese: Bloco de Esquerda). He is the son of António Seixas Louçã, who commanded a ship on theTagus River during theCarnation Revolution , and wife Noémia da Rocha Neves Anacleto (born 1931), aLawyer .Louçã is member of the Socialist Revolutionary Party since 1979, which helped found the
Left Bloc in 1999.He is a Professor of Economics in Lisbon's "Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão" ("Higher Institute of Economics and Management"), which belongs to the
Technical University of Lisbon and a member of the Portuguese Parliament since 1999.He his also the author of several books and scientific articles on the history of economic thought, the dynamics of complex adaptive systems and the nature of long-term techno-economic change.
Louçã received 288,224 votes (5.31%) in the Portuguese 2006 presidential elections.
He has a natural daughter, Joana de Campos Louçã, by Ana Maria da Encarnação Correia de Campos (born circa 1952), a Doctor and sister of António Fernando Correia de Campos (b.
December 14 ,1942 ),Minister of Health ofPortugal .
