As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 229 people, 108 households, and 60 families residing in the city. Thepopulation density was 394.4 people per square mile (152.4/km²). There were 111 housing units at an average density of 191.2/sq mi (73.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 100.00% White.There were 108 households out of which 20.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.0% were married couples living together, 1.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 44.4% were non-families. 39.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 25.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.12 and the average family size was 2.83.
In the city the population was spread out with 22.3% under the age of 18, 3.1% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 18.3% from 45 to 64, and 29.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.4 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $29,688, and the median income for a family was $36,607. Males had a median income of $26,250 versus $16,667 for females. The

During the time of July 4th, the Eitzen Lions Club hosts the Eitzen Family Fun Fest which takes place during July 3rd, 4th, and 5th.
July 3rd
For the cost of $10, many people go to Eitzen for the tractor/truck pull. On July 3rd, the pull lasted from 7:00 P. M. to around 11:45 P. M. Over 1,000 people enjoyed the event.
July 4th
Around noon (12:00 P. M.), was the Grand Parade. The Grand Parade consisted of over 90 exhibits that lasted around 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Directly after the parade, was the demolistion car derby for a cost of $5.
At 4:00 P. M. was the sawdust pile for little children. The sawdust pile had a few hundred dollars in coins for the children to hunt out.
Around 7:00 P. M. was the combine, minivan, and truck demolition derby for the cost of $5. Starting out was the 1st of three combine derby heats. Then was the minivan heat. In 2008, there was only three minivans was disappointed some people watching. After that was the combine derby, 2nd heat. Then was the truck derby. After that, was the final combine heat. The winner of the combine derby in 2008 was Bryan Meyer of Bryan's Repair in
Dorchester, IA .Later that night was the rafle followed by fireworks show at 10:00 P. M.
