The Fayetteville Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the
United States Census Bureau , is an area consisting of two counties – Cumberland and Hoke – in easternNorth Carolina , anchored by the city of Fayetteville. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 336,609 (though a July 1, 2007 estimate placed the population at 348,940).
