Sketty, Castle,Killay South ,Killay North , Dunvant, Uplands, Townhill, Cockett and Mayals.Politics
The more middle-class of the two
Swansea seats, with the forthcoming retirement of sitting MP Alan Williams it is now regarded as a marginal seat due to the close result of the Assembly Elections in 2007 where the Labour vote was reduced to a majority of 1,511 over the Liberal Democrats. The fact that Williams has stated his desire to retire from Parliament at the next general election, potentially putting Swansea West into play as a Liberal Democrat target seat: but the Labour majority of 4,269 is still a respectable 12% of the vote. It is also notable that this seat has never passed to MPs of the same party, each being succeeded by a member of a different party.Members of Parliament
