The largest denominations areBaptist s, as a result of the work of American Baptist Missionaries. In the year 1962 in a village in
Kohima started "The Great Awakening" when theHoly Spirit came upon the believers ofChrist and they were moved by the power of the Holy Spirit, as were many non-Christians, who then became Christians. The
Church leaders and theChristians were inspired by the power of the Holy Spirit and it spread to many parts of the state in Nagaland. Later "The Nagaland Christian Revival Church" was formed and it helped in spreading the gospel "Revival" to all the parts of Nagaland and its neighbouring states as well.
