Parham, Ontario

Parham, Ontario

Parham, Ontario is located an hour North of Kingston, Ontario and two hours East of Canada’s Capital, Ottawa, Ontario. It is a member of the Central Frontenac Township which involves other small towns like Godfrey, Sharbot Lake, Verona, and Hartington. Like its surrounding counterparts, Parham’s population is roughly 250, which classifies it as one of the smallest towns in the northern area.

The only known school in Parham is called Hinchinbrooke Public School, which many of the younger children attend due to the small capacity of children in this area. The closest school in that compared to Parham is Sharbot Lake Public School, which is roughly fifteen minutes away. Besides the public school, Parham has two general stores nicknamed “Joe and Marg’s” and “Good’s Store.” These two stores are convenient to those not wanting to drive the hour to the Wal-Mart, which is located in Kingston, Ontario. Three churches are also located in Parham, one "Anglican", one "Free Methodist", and one "United". Furthermore, there is also a post office that is located in the heart of Parham, where many of the locals use for a variety of daily errands.

The fire hall is located beside the Parham Fair Grounds where the main event that arises every year is held, which is Parham Agricultural Fair. Not only does it involve 4-H members showing cattle and various horses, but it is comprised of a demolition derby, which cars are decorated and sponsored by various shops and people coming from other small areas.

Since Parham is located in a very rural area on Highway 38, the amount of land is great for cottages and horseback riding, which many businesses invest in. The Eastern Cowboy Horseback Adventures is one of the local businesses that involve not only the beautiful experience of cottages, but the lasting experience of horseback riding on almost 2,500 acres of land. As Parham becomes more recognizable by the public, many tourists would love to see the various surrounding lakes and unlimited amounts of land that Parham has to offer.
