The Rocky Mount Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the
United States Census Bureau , is an area consisting of two counties – Edgecombe and Nash – in easternNorth Carolina , anchored by the city of Rocky Mount. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 143,026 (though a July 1, 2007 estimate placed the population at 145,596).
