South Chadderton School has a wide range of Wednesday afternoon activities including: karate and a poetry club; students are allowed to leave the campus from 1.30pm on a Wednesday or they may stay in school, although many decide to go home.
In 2007, staff went on strike after a teacher was suspended as part of an investigation into the publication of a diary detailing the bad behaviour of pupils.
