national park inNorway , straddling the border betweenNord-Trøndelag andNordland , with a border toSweden . The landscape varies from dramatic peaks of darkgranite , creating a desolate feeling, and grey mountains with little vegetations, to fertile mountain slopes andmarsh es. There are many lakes, ponds, and raging rivers. Waterlands offer a rich diversity of birds, andwolverine andArctic fox are indigenous.The park is for the most part a reservation, with few trails or other facilities for visitors. Hiking in the area is mostly easy, and visitors can hike for extended periods without seeing another person.
