United States Census Bureau , the township has a total area of 3.4square mile s (8.9km² ), of which, 3.2 square miles (8.3 km²) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.5 km²) of it (6.14%) is water.Demographics

U.S. Census Bureau has also defined Carrollton Township as acensus-designated place (CDP) in the 2000 Census so that the community would appear on the list of places (like cities and villages) as well on the list of county subdivisions (like other townships). The final statistics for the township and the CDP are identical.As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 6,602 people, 2,559 households, and 1,793 families residing in the township. Thepopulation density was 2,056.2 per square mile (794.1/km²). There were 2,647 housing units at an average density of 824.4/sq mi (318.4/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 82.58% White, 9.16% African American, 0.50% Native American, 0.68% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 4.89% from other races, and 2.17% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 10.77% of the population.There were 2,559 households out of which 34.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.2% were married couples living together, 15.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.9% were non-families. 25.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.10.
In the township the population was spread out with 27.7% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 20.0% from 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 90.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.2 males.
The median income for a household in the township was $38,405, and the median income for a family was $43,935. Males had a median income of $36,308 versus $21,172 for females. The
per capita income for the township was $16,377. About 7.8% of families and 8.9% of the population were below thepoverty line , including 11.7% of those under age 18 and 7.1% of those age 65 or over.References
