CBW (1937-1938)CBE is the
callsign of theCBC Radio One station inWindsor, Ontario ,Canada .CBE broadcasts at 1550 on the AM dial, and also reaches parts of
Western Ontario via two relay transmitters located at Sarnia and Chatham.History
The station first aired in 1935 as
Canadian Radio Broadcasting Commission station CRCW 600, which broadcast until 1938 (changing its call sign to CBW in 1937 after the CRBC became the CBC). Between 1938 and 1950, CBC Radio programming was aired on private affiliate CKLW 1030, later 800. A CBC-owned station was subsequently relaunched in 1950 using its present call sign and frequency. Regional FM rebroadcasters were added in 1977.Local programming
CBE's local programs are "The Early Shift" in the morning, and "Crosstown" in the afternoon. The CBC's website previously indicated that the relay transmitters in Chatham and Sarnia aired CBLA's "Ontario Morning" in place of "The Early Shift", although it no longer does.
