Nicholas Barron

Nicholas Barron is an American folk music and blues guitarist based in Chicago, Illinois.^[1] Born in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Barron soon moved to New Jersey and spent his childhood growing up in Morristown, New Jersey. His mother was a children's librarian, while his father is a painter. His earliest memories are of him listening to his mother's extensive blues and jazz records collection. Barron soon started playing guitar and developed a knack for performing for friends and family. It was in adulthood that he moved to Chicago and began his music career as a troubadour on the streets, and in the subways of Chicago's 'L' stations. It was during this period that Barron founded C.A.S.A. (Coalition for the Advancement of Street Art) to stop the city from banning street art/performance.

Since his stint as a street performer, Barron has sung for several different Comcast sports radio and TV commercials and has opened for musicians such as B.B. King, Al Green, Johnny Cash, and the Neville Brothers. In 2007, he was featured in the New York Times Emerging Artist Series. He currently resides in Chicago and is signed to CandyRat Records.^[2] Barron regularly performs around the Chicago area, both as a solo musician, and with his bands the Nicholas Barron Band, and 312 Chicago.
