Manuela Myriam Henri Ramin-Osmundsen (born 15 July 1963) is a Norwegian politician belonging to the Norwegian Labour Party. Born in the French overseas department Martinique, she was appointed as Minister of Children and Equality Affairs in the second cabinet Stoltenberg on 18 October 2007, becoming the first non-white member of the Norwegian Cabinet.[1] Born a French citizen, Ramin-Osmundsen came to Norway in 1991, and became a Norwegian citizen early October 2007, 14 days before being appointed as Minister of Children and Equality Affairs. She resigned from that post on 14 February 2008 due to the strong criticism she faced, withholding information and lying to the Prime Minister on a possible conflict of interest in appointing a new children's ombudsman the week before.[1]
