Miller Creek Middle School, a public school, is a California Distinguished School located in Marinwood-Lucas Valley in Marin County, California.
It is a school in the Dixie School District. Miller Creek was constructed in 1964 along with four other schools in the Dixie School District. The school is held near the banks of Miller Creek. The school colors are blue and silver, and the mascot is the Panthers. Miller Creek Middle School has 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and is home to just about 650 students. Nestled within the beautiful hills of Marin County, we have Miller Creek running behind the campus, oaks and bay trees surrounding the campus, and the historic Dixie School House at our entrance. We have over 34 classrooms, a gym, performing arts stage, band room, orchestra room, choir room, two computer centers, the world-famous Creek Cafe, and a state-of-the-art library/media center. The principal is Patty Flynn-Elliot. Currently, Miller Creek is staffed with 38 credentialed teachers (including a full-time librarian), 7 instructional assistants, 1 site technology assistant, 2 administrators, 3 office support personnel, 1 full-time counselor, and part-time speech therapist. District support includes part-time psychologist, nurse, technology coordinator and more!
The school has no baseball or American football team, but does have girls and boys basketball teams, girls volleyball, and boys and girls cross country and track. The Panthers have had a ton of championships, as shown by the amount of pennants on the wall of the gymnasium. Their rivals are Davidson Middle School-San Rafael but Miller Creek and Del Mar-Tiburon are probably the most competitive in athletics. There is also no soccer team, but many students play rec in the Dixie Youth Soccer Asscotiation or select for DYSA, Central Marin, or Novato United. Many students at Miller Creek Middle School are graduates of Vallecito Elementary School, Mary E. Silveira Elementary School, or Dixie Elementary School, the k-5 elementary schools in the same school district. A minority of students come from elsewhere such as St. Isabella, St. Marks, or Coleman. Most eighth graders who graduate go to Terra Linda High for high school, located near Vallecito Elementary School, although they also go to Marin Catholic, San Domenico, Marin Academy, Redwood, San Rafael , Sir Francis Drake, or Branson. Miller Creek Middle School does not have closed halls but has locker courts. They also have the Creek Cafe which serves tasty snacks at break and hot lunch.
