As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 685 people, 288 households, and 154 families residing in the village. Thepopulation density was 406.6 per square mile (157.4/km²). There were 329 housing units at an average density of 195.3/sq mi (75.6/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.98% White, 0.15% African American, and 0.88% Native American. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.46% of the population.There were 288 households out of which 24.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 35.8% were married couples living together, 14.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 46.5% were non-families. 42.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 26.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.06 and the average family size was 2.75.
In the village the population was spread out with 17.8% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 17.8% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 34.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 51 years. For every 100 females there were 74.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 64.1 males.
