"The Riverboat" is a forthcoming live album by Neil Young. In February 1969, Young performed a series of shows at The Riverboat, a coffee house in Toronto. [http://db.etree.org/bs_d.php?year=1969&artist_key=36] This album is a live recording from these performances.

According to Neil Young's official web site, this album will be Volume 1 in the "Archives Performance Series". [http://www.neilyoung.com/news/index.html] . Since volumes 2 & 3 have already been released and a volume 0 is scheduled to be released in November, 2008, this will be the fourth release from the series.

A CD sampler of the album was released in selected retail outlets alongside Young's latest album, Chrome Dreams II. The different outlets will have different bonus CDs with a different preview track.

The album will also be included as part of the Archives, Vol. 1 box set which was most recently scheduled to be released on February 18, 2008. However, the box set was not released on that date, but a new release date was announced for Autumn 2008 at billboard.com. There have been rumours that the latest release date has once again slipped to January–February, 2009 owing to production difficulties. It is unknown whether or not the standalone CD will be released earlier.
