Biography
Early life
Sisto was born in Grass Valley, California, the son of Reedy Gibbs, an actress and farmer, and Richard Sisto, a farmer, jazz musician and educator.[1] His parents divorced in 1980.[citation needed] His elder sister is Meadow Sisto who is an American actress who played Caroline in the 1992 comedy film Captain Ron, got him involved in acting.[citation needed] He was raised in Chicago and attended the Francis W. Parker School. Jeremy Sisto appeared in the film Grand Canyon while attending high school. After studying at UCLA he began acting full-time.
Career
At a young age, he appeared in the Twisted Sister video "We're Not Gonna Take It". He experimented in the various sectors of entertainment including his "aquatic" magic act.[citation needed] The show traveled throughout the Los Angeles area, mainly outside strip-malls in Chino and Compton.[citation needed] After making friends with several closeted magic fans, he was finally given his big break.
Sisto played a killer in Hideaway, a rich brat in Clueless and White Squall, Jesus in the eponymous mini-series, a patient diagnosed with multiple personality disorder in the short film Inside, a former drug addict in Thirteen, and an abusive husband in Waitress. Sisto also played the character Billy in the HBO series Six Feet Under. He also appeared in the 2003 of the WB's Dawson's Creek; afterward he performed on the Los Angeles stage the role of bigoted Southerner Shane Mungitt in Richard Greenberg's play Take Me Out, about a black baseball player who announces he is gay.
Besides acting, Sisto has worked behind the scenes. In 1998, he produced the unreleased movie Taken, together with his friend Ethan Embry. He also produced the films Three Women of Pain and Paranoia 1.0. In April 2003, he started his own production company, Dima Entertainment. In 2006, he appeared on Broadway in Festen. In the same year, he starred in the short-lived NBC drama series Kidnapped. In July 2007, Sisto was featured in the Maroon 5 video for the song "Wake Up Call". He played a man who was sleeping with the girlfriend of Adam Levine.
In 2008, Sisto joined the cast of the crime drama Law & Order as Detective Cyrus Lupo, replacing the outgoing Milena Govich. He had previously appeared on the show as a lawyer in the previous season's finale. He voiced Batman in the direct-to-video movie Justice League: The New Frontier.[citation needed]
Sisto is currently starring in the American television comedy series Suburgatory which premiered on ABC in the fall of 2011. ABC announced on October 13, 2011 they would pickup the series for a full season.[2]
Personal life
Sisto married Marisa Ryan in the 1990s; the couple divorced in 2002.[3] On June 5, 2009, he had a daughter, Charlie Ballerina, with then-girlfriend Addie Lane; he married Lane in October 2009.[3] Sisto continues to perform magic acts at private events, most recently at Amy Smart's 35th birthday party at Chateau Nightclub in Las Vegas.
