According to the
United States Census Bureau , the township has a total area of 36.1square mile s (93.6km² ), of which, 35.8 square miles (92.7 km²) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.9 km²) of it (0.94%) is water.Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 4,738 people, 1,706 households, and 1,371 families residing in the township. Thepopulation density was 132.4 per square mile (51.1/km²). There were 1,774 housing units at an average density of 49.6/sq mi (19.1/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.28% White, 0.36% African American, 0.34% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.55% from other races, and 1.25% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.18% of the population.There were 1,706 households out of which 35.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.4% were married couples living together, 7.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.6% were non-families. 15.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.07.
In the township the population was spread out with 25.4% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 29.7% from 25 to 44, 27.5% from 45 to 64, and 9.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 103.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.8 males.
The median income for a household in the township was $51,235, and the median income for a family was $57,880. Males had a median income of $48,393 versus $22,788 for females. The
