Brazil-Colombia border

The border between Brazil and Colombia is 1644,2 km long. The boundary was delimited in two treaties:
*the Treaty of Bogotá of 1907, establishing the line from the Rio Negro northwestward along the Amazon River-Orinoco watershed divide, "then generally southward along various river courses and straight-line segments to the mouth of the Rio Apaporis" [ [http://www.law.fsu.edu/library/collection/LimitsinSeas/IBS174.pdf Brazil-Colombia boundary] , International Boundary Study, April 15, 1985.] , and
*the "Tratado de Límites y Navegación Fluvial" of 1928, delimiting the Apaporis-Amazon segment of the boundary as a "geodesic line identical to its Brazilian-Peruvian antecedent after Colombia gained undisputed sovereignty over the area". [ [http://www.law.fsu.edu/library/collection/LimitsinSeas/IBS174.pdf Brazil-Colombia boundary] , International Boundary Study, April 15, 1985.]

The border between Brazil and Colombia is the most important cocaine smuggling zone of the world. [ [http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9D0CE6DB1138F937A25757C0A967958260 Brazil's Amazon Basin Becomes Cocaine Highway] , New York Times, April 14, 1991.]
