census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,245 people, 398 households, and 312 families residing in the township. Thepopulation density was 34.9 per square mile (13.5/km²). There were 431 housing units at an average density of 12.1/sq mi (4.7/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98.80% White, 0.16% African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.16% from other races, and 0.72% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 9.96% of the population.There were 398 households out of which 36.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.3% were married couples living together, 8.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.4% were non-families. 18.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.83 and the average family size was 3.21.
In the township the population was spread out with 29.9% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 9.6% who were 65 years of age or older.
