Cederberg Local Municipality

Cederberg Municipality is a municipality located in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. As of 2001, the population was 39,326. Its municipality code is WC012.

Government

The mayor of the municipality is Sylvia Newman of the ANC. It is divided into six wards with a total of twelve councillors.

There is a partial exclave of West Coast Municipality, Western Cape near the centre of the municipality. The Atlantic Ocean also borders Cederberg Municipality on the west.

As of the census of 2001, there are 39,326 people and 10,367 households residing in the municipality. The population density is 5.35/km². The density of households is 1.41/km². The racial makeup of the municipality is Black African 7.96%, Coloured 78.23%, Indian/Asian 0.00%, White 13.74%.

17.7% of all households are made up of individuals. The average household size is 3.79.

In the municipality the population is spread out with 29.1% under the age of 15, 16.7% from 15 to 24, 32.9% from 25 to 44, 15.5% from 45 to 64, and 5.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 27 years. For every 100 females there are 99.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.0 males.
