- S-Line (Norfolk Southern)
The Norfolk Southern S-Line is a secondary main line which runs between
Chattanooga, Tennessee andSalisbury, North Carolina .It is operated by
Norfolk Southern Railway under 2 divisions. Half of it thePiedmont Division and the other half theCentral Division .Trains
Trains on the S- Line are mainly manifests, locals, grain trains to and from
Columbia, South Carolina and coal trains fromBelmont, North Carolina .Local trains operate at several different yards between Barber Jct. and Hickory, North Carolina. Intermodal trains andAmtrak passenger trains do not use this line.All trains are required to be given track authorities from the Asheville Dispatcher.

#P-60 -- 5 Days a Week, Weekends off.
#P-61 -- 7 days a week. Sundays the local goes back to Linwood usually with only light engines.
#P-62 -- Late Evening to Early Morning Sunday through Thursday
#P-64 -- Friday to Tuesday Early Mornings. Off Wednesday & Thursdays
#PH-02 -- Monday through Friday Mid Morning to Late Afternoon
#P-71 -- Uses the same engines from #PH-02
