North Olmsted High School Marching Band

The North Olmsted High School Marching Band of North Olmsted High School, located in North Olmsted, Ohio, is a high school marching band consisting of percussion, brass, and woodwind players. Combined with the Eaglet Kickline and Eaglet Flag Squad, the group performs during halftime at the varsity football games for the North Olmsted Eagles. The band takes great pride in the fact that they are one of only a handful of Northeast Ohio high school marching bands who perform as a chair step marching band, as well as the fact that the traditions from so many years ago continue on today in its members. Their fight song is "On Wisconsin" and they also play "War Eagle" during pre-game.

Directors

The band is currently directed by Mr. Ben McMurtrie, who took up the position in the Fall of 2005. Prior to his appointment in North Olmsted, McMurtrie had served as Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Kent State University Bands, and as Director of Bands in the Kirtland Local Schools. He has earned degrees from Kent State University (Master of Music) and Bowling Green State University (Bachelor of Music).

Mrs. Carey Whitehouse serves as Assistant Director for the band. Carey Whitehouse received her Bachelor of Music Education from the Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music and her Master of Education from Ashland University. She has been a band director in the North Olmsted system for over 25 years, having first worked with the marching band with Mr. Kepperley and Mr. Malchus in the early 1980’s.

Mr. Dan Greene, another Assistant Director, is a graduate of the Cleveland State University, and is currently working on his Master’s Degree at Case Western Reserve University. He proudly serves his country as a member of the United States Naval Reserve in Assault Craft Unit - Two.

Mrs. Gina Caroscio, coach of the Eaglet Kickline, first began coaching the NOHS Eaglets in 1993. She is currently in her 11th season and has encouraged the squad to grow and change over the years. She has also been a faculty member of North Olmsted Middle School since 1998 and is currently teaching 8th grade American History. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Bowling Green State University and her Master’s Degrees in Educational Technology and Middle Level Education from Walden University. Mrs. Caroscio is also a member of the NOHS graduating class of 1984 and a former Eaglet.
