Craigsville, Minnesota

Craigsville was a logging village in section 36 of T. 63N, R 26W in Koochiching County, Minnesota.

History

Craigsville was platted in 1924 by James Reid. It was named for an unknown logging foreman named Craig. Craigsville was frequented by as many as 5000 lumberjacks seasonally, and had a post office from 1915 until 1952. One of the photos used in the opening montage for the television series "Cheers" was taken in Craigville in the 1920s.
