John Cobbe

John Cobbe

John George Cobbe (1860–1944) was a New Zealand politician of the Liberal Party, then the National Party. He was born in Ireland, and arrived in New Zealand in 1886.

He represented the Oroua electorate from 1928 to 1938, then the Manawatu electorate from 1938 to 1943, when he retired.

He was a Cabinet minister. He was Minister of Defence from 1929 to 1935 and Minister of Justice from 1930 to 1935 in the United Government.
