Highland Plantation is a plantation in Somerset County, Maine, United States. The population was 52 at the 2000 census.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the plantation has a total area of 42.0 square miles (108.9 km²), of which, 42.0 square miles (108.8 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.05%) is water.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 52 people, 24 households, and 16 families residing in the plantation. The population density was 1.2 people per square mile (0.5/km²). There were 56 housing units at an average density of 1.3/sq mi (0.5/km²). The racial makeup of the plantation was 100.00% White.

There were 24 households out of which 16.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.5% were married couples living together, and 33.3% were non-families. 33.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 29.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.17 and the average family size was 2.69.
