Greg was signed by the
Edmonton Oilers in 1994 as an undrafted free agent. In 1998 he was traded to theNashville Predators , but less than a month later was traded to theColorado Avalanche for a second round draft pick. He played several seasons in Colorado and won theStanley Cup with them in 2001. In 2003 he signed as a free agent with theNew York Rangers , but when that team decided to dump most of its most expensive players near the end of that season he was sent to theOttawa Senators forKarel Rachunek and prospectAlexandre Giroux . While brought in to help the Senators in the playoffs, they lost in the first round. After the lock-out season he was traded along withMarian Hossa inAugust 23 ,2005 to theAtlanta Thrashers forDany Heatley . OnJuly 2 ,2007 , de Vries signed for theNashville Predators as a free agent.He currently divides his time between
