County Cork and flows north intoCounty Limerick for about 60+ km to enter theShannon Estuary atAskeaton .After it rises it passes the flowing areas, first
Milford County Cork and down towards Belville bridge, the river then flows on toCastlemahon (Mahoonagh ) and nearbyNewcastle West flowing parallel to the mainLimerick -Killarney Road, to reachRathkeale .Having leftRathkeale , the River Deel now crosses the newKillarney -Limerick [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N21_road_(Ireland) N21] road and heads for its confluence and Estuary atAskeaton .Fishing
The Deel was once a good salmon and grilse fishery but now is mainly fished for brown trout.
