Sofie Duran is a fictional character on the daytime soap opera "As The World Turns". The role was originated by Justine Cotsonas on July 30, 2007. From the character's premiere until February 2008, the character was played on a recurring basis; since March 2008, Cotsonas has been a contract player.

ofie's History

Sofie Duran took a job at The Lakeview as a waitress. Sofie and Aaron hit it off when she took the blame for some glasses that Aaron broke after he argued with Alison.

Sofie was pregnant with her boyfriend Cole Norbeck's baby. Cole convinced her to give up their daughter for adoption because he doesn't want kids. Cole had it set up so that his sister Gwen Norbeck Munson and her husband Will Munson would adopt the baby.

Sofie wanted what's best for her child and gave her to Will and Gwen on Christmas. Gwen and Will currently have her baby girl, Hallie. Sofie stole back Hallie while Gwen and Will were out and Barbara Ryan was watching her and fell asleep on the couch. She ran off to Chicago but came back because Hallie was getting a fever. Since Gwen had already gone through this with Billy (her first child that died) she new what Sofie was going through, so she convinced Will to drop the charges.

A little later Sofie decided to go to court for custody of Hallie, and lost because she was unfit to care for a child. Aaron who was close friends with Sofie, and Godfather of Hallie, testified on Will and Gwen's behalf, but did it for Hallie.Sofie then felt abandoned and depressed. After having Hallie for a bit longer, Gwen felt like she was taking Hallie from her mother, and went behind Wills back to give Hallie back to Sophie,even though she still loved Hallie she thought it would be best if Hallie was with her mom (biological mother). Will had heard that Gwen thinks it's wrong to keep Hallie (from Gwen) and tried to stop her.

After only a few days of having Hallie, Sofie becomes frantic when Hallie becomes ill and needs a blood transfusion. Sofie has to be strong and ask Gwen for help.

Family and relationships

Very close friendship with Paul Ryan. He provided her with financial backing against the wishes of his younger brother Will Munson who was the Legal adoptive parent/uncle by marriage.
