Greenvale Football Club is anAustralian rules football club located in the outer northernMelbourne suburb ofGreenvale . The club was formed in 1990 by Bruce Kent who was concerned about the lack of sporting opportunities for his sons especially his son Christopher. The club initially fielded only junior teams but in 1996 began fielding a senior and reserve team. By 2005,Greenvale Football Club was fielding fifteen teams in theEssendon District Football League .Greenvale has only been in operation as a senior club for a little over a decade, but already it has established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the powerful
Essendon District Football League . Its first senior premiership was achieved in B Grade in 2002, thanks to a 5 goal grand final defeat of Tullamarine. Two years later the club's first A Grade flag arrived courtesy of a 17.18 (120) to 10.17 (77) win over Oak Park in the season's decisive game. The club once again tasted premiership glory in 2007 with a resounding victory over Strathmore in the A Gradegrand final .Greenvale continues to be a great side in the EDFL with star players Chris Obst former Hawthorn player in the AFL,Stephen Paxman, Andrew Briggs, rhys blooomfield and former hawthorn player john hassall. They are on track to win back to back premierships in the A grade. They have gone through the season undefeated, smashing every team in their way. Greenvale suffered a shock loss to Keilor in the grand final. Keilor were leading all day and defeated Greenvale 132 to 99. 2 weeks prior to the Grand Final, Greenvale thrashed Keilor by 57 points
