History

Tantasqua Regional High School was founded in 1954. A new high school was completed in 2002. The school derives its name from Tantiusques ("tan-tas-qua"), a Nipmuck word meaning "to a black deposit between two hills1.

Athletics

Tantasqua has varsity teams in the following sports: Baseball, Basketball, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Golf, Indoor Track, Field Hockey, Football, Soccer, Swimming & Diving, Track & Field, Tennis, Lacrosse, and Volleyball.
In 2007, the Boys Basketball team captured the MIAA Division II State Championship. The following season they made it to the MIAA D-2 State Finals again, only to lose in a rematch with Catholic Memorial.

Marching Band

In 2007, Direction of the Tantasqua Warrior Marching Band was taken over by Music Director Lucy Colwell. Mrs. Colwell serves as Marching Band Director in addition to her duties as director of the Tantasqua Junior High School band program. In 2008, Colwell brought in Massachusetts drill designer and creative consultant Nicholas McKenzie to assist with the marching band program in an attempt to bring the band "to the next level." Under this joint leadership, the group has evolved from a "park-and-play" band to a true "corps-style" field show marching band.

The band's 2008 show includes musical selections from Cirque du Soleil's production 'La Nouba'.

Drum Major for the 2008 Season is Molly Porter, and Color Guard Captain is Courtney Little.
