United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 2.9square mile s (7.6km² ), of which, 2.9 square miles (7.5 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (1.37%) is water.Demographics

census GR|2 of 2000, there were 5,960 people, 2,086 households, and 1,577 families residing in the city. Thepopulation density was 2,059.8 people per square mile (796.3/km²). There were 2,269 housing units at an average density of 784.2/sq mi (303.1/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 75.12% White, 0.29% African American, 0.96% Native American, 0.45% Asian, 21.19% from other races, and 2.00% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 37.52% of the population.There were 2,086 households out of which 43.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.0% were married couples living together, 8.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.4% were non-families. 22.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.82 and the average family size was 3.33.
In the city the population was spread out with 32.7% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 10.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 98.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.0 males.
