footnotes =Raghu Raj Bahadur (
30 April 1924 –7 July 1997 ) was an India born mathematical statistician considered by peers to be "one of the architects of the modern theory of mathematical statistics" [ [http://chronicle.uchicago.edu/970612/bahadur.shtml] Obituary in "The University of Chicago Chronicle"] . He published numerous papers [ [http://www.stat.uchicago.edu/faculty/InMemoriam/bahadur/BahadurCV.pdf] Bahadur's CV hosted at University of Chicago] and is most well known for the concept of "Bahadur Efficiency" [ [http://www.math.binghamton.edu/arcones/prep/pv.pdf] A paper about Bahadur Efficiency] .The well-known Anderson-Bahadur algorithm [Classification into two multivariate normal distributions with different covariance matrices (1962), T W Anderson, R R Bahadur, "Annals of Mathematical Statistics"] is widely used in statistics and engineering for solving binary classification problems when the underlying data have multivariate normal distributions with different covariance matrices.
