Steven White

Steven White (born June 15, 1981 in League City, Texas) is a right-handed pitcher who is currently a free agent.

College career

White attended Baylor University, where he recorded 28 wins in four seasons, and earned a Big 12 Conference All-Star nod in 2001. He was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 18th round following his junior year in 2002, but chose instead to return for his senior year. He was subsequently drafted by the New York Yankees in the 4th round of the 2003 draft, the 124th selection overall. Professional career

White began his professional career in 2004 with the Battle Creek Yankees in the Class A Midwest League. After going 5-2 with a 2.65 ERA, he was promoted to the High A Tampa Yankees, where he went 6-2 with a 2.56 ERA in 12 starts.

He started the 2005 season in Tampa, but was promoted to the AA Trenton Thunder after only three appearances. White struggled with Trenton, posting a 2-7 record and a 6.44 ERA in 11 starts.

In November 2005, White was a member of Team USA Baseball in the CONCEBE Olympic Qualifier tournament held in Phoenix, Arizona. White earned the win pitching five innings, striking out five, and allowing six hits. In 2006, White began the season by going 4-1 with a 2.11 ERA for Trenton, earning a promotion to the AAA Columbus Clippers, where he went 4-9 with a 4.71 ERA.

In 2007, White began the season on the disabled list for a "nerve problem in his throwing shoulder." White spent the remainder of the 2007 season with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees compiling a 6-4 record with a 3.34 ERA in 16 appearances. The Yankees released White on August 12, 2008.
