White attended
Baylor University , where he recorded 28 wins in four seasons, and earned aBig 12 Conference All-Star nod in 2001. He was drafted by theMilwaukee Brewers in the 18th round following his junior year in 2002, but chose instead to return for his senior year. He was subsequently drafted by theNew York Yankees in the 4th round of the 2003 draft, the 124th selection overall. White began his professional career in 2004 with the
Battle Creek Yankees in the Class AMidwest League . After going 5-2 with a 2.65 ERA, he was promoted to the High ATampa Yankees , where he went 6-2 with a 2.56 ERA in 12 starts.He started the 2005 season in Tampa, but was promoted to the AA
Trenton Thunder after only three appearances. White struggled with Trenton, posting a 2-7 record and a 6.44 ERA in 11 starts.In November 2005, White was a member of Team USA Baseball in the CONCEBE Olympic Qualifier tournament held in
Phoenix, Arizona .
