- Steven R. White
Steven R. White (born
December 26 ,1959 in Lawton,Oklahoma ) is the professor ofphysics at theUniversity of California at Irvine . He graduated fromUniversity of California at San Diego ; he then received hisPh.D. atCornell University . He is most known for inventing theDensity Matrix Renormalization Group in 1992. This is a numerical variational technique for high accuracy calculations of the low energy physics of quantum manybody systems. His over one hundred papers on this and related subjects have been used and cited very widely--his most cited article has been cited over a thousand times.Awards
