Westside is a city in Crawford County, Iowa, United States. The population was 327 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Westside is located at coor dms|42|4|31|N|95|6|1|W|city (42.075229, -95.100227)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.5 square miles (3.8 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 327 people, 146 households, and 109 families residing in the city. The population density was 220.8 people per square mile (85.3/km²). There were 154 housing units at an average density of 104.0/sq mi (40.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 100.00% White.

There were 146 households out of which 24.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.5% were married couples living together, 2.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.3% were non-families. 23.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.24 and the average family size was 2.60.

In the city the population was spread out with 19.9% under the age of 18, 4.0% from 18 to 24, 22.0% from 25 to 44, 28.7% from 45 to 64, and 25.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 47 years. For every 100 females there were 90.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.5 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $37,250, and the median income for a family was $40,357. Males had a median income of $32,500 versus $18,125 for females. The per capita income for the city was $31,545. About 2.5% of families and 3.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including none of those under the age of eighteen or sixty-five or over.
